By Kelly Reaves

The dreams of John F. Kennedy live on. His idealism, eloquence and strength of character have helped to form the fabric of our nation. Honoring the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s presidency, Proscenium Productions presents Kennedy, a musical based on JFK’s life and political career. This thought-provoking production shines a light on Kennedy’s historic commitments for a new generation.

Kennedy is based on the 1983 production One Shining Moment, which enjoyed a well-received run in Chicago. Producer Jim Stahulak has collaborated with the show’s original creative team of composer/playwright Allan Jay Friedman and award-winning composer Leslie Bricusse. With book, music and lyrics by Friedman and Bricusse, Kennedy brings audiences the hope and drama of the Camelot years.

The workshop takes place December 5-8 at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Tickets are free, but must be reserved through kennedymusical.com. The full production is expected to come to fruition in early 2013. For more information, visit prosceniumproductions.com.
